Business Visa  |  Nigeria

Visa Requirements

::    Passport valid for six months on exit

::    Two adjacent (facing) blank pages in passport

::    Two recent identical passport photographs

Please write your full name on the reverse of both photographs.

::    Application form, completed online, printed and signed

All Nigerian visa applications must be completed online, and the consular fee paid via the same online service.

Follow the Application Form link (below right) to the Nigerian Immigration Service website. Select United Kingdom from the ‘processing country’ dropdown box, then click the ‘start application’ button at the bottom of the page. When you’ve completed the form, print it out, sign and send to us, along with the Visa Acknowledgment Slip and Visa Payment Slip. (Please ignore the interview date printed on the Payment Slip; we will book an appointment to submit the application and attend on your behalf.)

If you require further assistance, or would prefer that we handle the online payment on your behalf, we offer a comprehensive form-completion service for Nigerian visas. In order to take advantage of this, select ‘standard + form fill’ from the Handling Service dropdown, or contact us for more information.

Please note, the Immigration Service requires that the first and last names on the credit card used to make your online payment MUST match the first and last names in your passport. If this is likely to be a problem, please contact us before starting your application.

::    Visa Acknowledgment Slip (see above)

::    Visa Payment Slip (see above)

::    Completed travel questionnaire

Applicants must complete and submit a questionnaire regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19).

::    Business introduction letter

The letter of introduction from your UK employer must be an original document, written on company letterhead displaying a UK postal address. The letter must be signed and dated by a senior member of staff (not the applicant), and must be addressed to the Visa Section, Nigerian High Commission, 9 Northumberland Avenue, London, WC2N 5BX. (Failure to include this address may result in the rejection of your application.) The letter should confirm your employment status, and clearly state the reason for your visit to Nigeria. Applicants are advised to describe the purpose of trip as ‘business meetings and discussions’, specifying the exact nature of the business to be discussed, duration of meeting(s), details of attendees and a copy of the agenda, where possible.

Self-employed applicants must submit a letter confirming their employment status, and must also provide a recent, original bank statement. This must be no more than three months old, and should clearly show the applicant’s name and address, plus a credit balance of at least £500 (not including any overdraft facility).

::    Letter of invitation

The letter of invitation must be an original document from a business or organisation in Nigeria. It must be written on company letterhead, addressed to the Visa Section, Nigerian High Commission, 9 Northumberland Avenue, London, WC2N 5BX. (Failure to include this address may result in the rejection of your application.) The letter should note your full name, type of visa required, the duration and purpose of trip, and must also accept moral and financial responsibility for your visit. As before, it should state ‘business discussions’ as the purpose of trip, specifying the exact nature of business or subjects to be discussed, dates and duration of meetings, and details of staff or other parties invited to attend.

::    Proof of previous Nigerian visa(s), if applicable

Travellers applying for a multiple-entry visa must have held (and used) at least two previous Nigerian visas, issued by the Nigerian High Commission in London. If they are in an expired or second passport, rather than the one you’re using to apply for the new visa, you must provide both passports in order for the High Commission to consider your application. Applicants who fail to provide necessary proof of previous trips may be charged for multiple entry but only issued a single-entry visa.

PLEASE NOTE: All applicants are required to provide biometric information in person at the Nigerian visa processing centre in London on the day of application. There are still a number of ways in which we can assist, including form filling, application checking, visa collection/return and accompanying you to the processing centre. Please contact us for further information.

Additional Information

Documents written in any language other than English must be submitted along with a certified, translated copy.

PLEASE NOTE, if the embassy is not fully satisfied your trip is for business purposes, they may request that you attend an interview in person or apply for a TWP (Temporary Work Permit) visa instead. This will only be confirmed when we attempt to collect the visa.

The embassy reserves the right to request additional documents in support of your visa application, and to alter or increase fees without prior notice.

No refund will be given if your visa is cancelled, rejected by the embassy or if the validity/visa type is not as requested.
